About Us

When we got Tobi we could pretty much continue enjoying yearly visits to our favourite places, from the lovely Lake District to stunning Scotland, but when we decided that Tobi wanted another dog about the place and we got Meg, well, finding a self catering property that would happily take two dogs proved to be a problem.

After spending ages trawling through various cottage agency websites, selecting the pet friendly option and discovering that about 90% of them would only take one dog, we decided something had to be done to make life easier for doggie families. Even the pet friendly holiday websites didn't help as you had to wade through them all and then end up disappointed when the majority would only welcome one dog. Hence, Plus 2 Dogs was born!

The New Arrival: Tobi

After debating the merits of the Labrador breed versus those of the Springer we eventually decided to purchase an eight week old Labrador puppy. We named him Tobi. He looked unbelievably cute and loved his cuddles but often behaved like a delinquent. Now 3 years old Tobi is still unbelievably cute and loves a) long country walks b) food and c) his cuddles!

After a year or so (when we were just about recovering from his puppy-dom adventures) Tobi seemed keen on having another dog about the place to tug toys off and chase round the garden. Following advice from books and fellow dog owners, we arranged for Tobi to accompany us to meet a litter of pups so that he could play with them and we could see which ones he got on OK with. Eventually Tobi selected Little Meg as his new friend and home we all trooped...

And Meg Makes 2

The first 24 hours for Meg were spent hiding under the sofa, the chair, the table, you name it. Meg was a bit of a scaredy cat at first as Tobi bounced around, eager to play and introduce her to the delights of the toy box. In the next 24 hours Meg decided Tobi was great fun and that she could get away with all sorts of mischievous things with him - taking over his bed, pinching the toy he was playing with and demanding - by means of a puppy yelp and doing very good Zeberdee impersonations - that he should keep her entertained.

In our experience it was much easier with the second puppy - after all she had Tobi to play with and learn from. Within a few days she settled quickly at night, with Tobi nearby playing his protective role to the hilt. Within a week she was house trained. Now, 2 years on, they're best friends and happily share their toys, beds, blankets, water bowls, training classes and walks… but never food, after all, they are Labradors!

The question now is… will 2 become 3?
